If you are experiencing persistent sadness, anxiety, and a lack of joy during your pregnancy, you may be experiencing a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder (PMAD). 15-20% of birthing people suffer from postpartum depression and anxiety. Up to 10% of fathers experience paternal depression or anxiety. Other issues on the PMAD spectrum include trauma during pregnancy, perinatal obsessive compulsive disorder, postpartum psychosis among others.
